Traci Lynn Wilkey is our Featured Artist for March 2022.
Kona resident Traci Lynn Wilkey has always had a passion for the arts. From playing the violin as a young adult to owning a photography studio, Wilkey has always searched for creative outlets. Over the past 28 years, Wilkey has supplemented a career in the dental industry with the management of an art gallery where she helped expose local artists and musicians to the community.
In April of 2020, she opened New Beginnings Regift Boutique where second-hand merchandise was transformed into custom-designed gift bundles. Today, this concept is being enhanced with an aquatic theme to create a new take on ocean treasure “pieces”—a collection of artwork that has proven to be one-of-a-kind.
Recently relocating to Hawaii from California, where her two daughters still reside, Wilkey is picking up the pieces of her life and picking up pieces on local beaches that serve as inspiration for her evolving artistic style.
Through her art, Wilkey shows us that no matter what its size or story, it can be reinvented to produce something new, and perhaps even better. To further add to the intrigue of Wilkey’s art, it should be noted that all of her art materials are either second-hand or donated.
