Meet Our Master Bartender

Craft bartender Gabrielle Maser has over twenty years of experience designing, opening, bartending and working in restaurants here in Hawai’i and on the West Coast, combined with a BA in Interior Design from Chaminade University.

After working in some of the most amazing restaurants the west has to offer, Gabrielle trained and learned under Honolulu’s own master cocktail creator Christian Self of Bevy, designing and concocting unique, balanced beautiful cocktails.

Later on as the Head Mixologist at the Pacific Club in Honolulu, Gabrielle “loved working in a place with the perfect fit of class and sophistication” and built the first private club cocktail program in the state. In 2019 Miss Maser designed, staffed and opened a craft coffee and drink establishment for the Redmont Group at their property in Kaka’ako, Workplay. She then returned to Kailua-Kona to settle down where the magic began so many years ago.

With amazing established live music and that magical speakeasy feel, Gertrude’s Jazz Bar is the perfect inspiration for Gabrielle’s Kailua-Kona craft cocktail program. Using the music and that roaring 20’s prohibition feel as her theme, focusing on sustainability, local flavors and the Big Island’s unique ability to produce exotic fruits & spices as well as integrating the blossoming brewing and distilling community this craft cocktail menu is unlike anything out there.

Gertrude's New Signature Cocktail, the All Blues Mai Tai, crafted by Gabrielle Maser.

According to Gabrielle, “Each drink should have a beginning, a middle and an end. A balance between sweet and tart, bitter and sour, and each drinks perfect place on those spectrums is to the discretion of the imbiber. The craft bartenders challenge then becomes to make the perfect drink for the person sitting in front of you. And that’s when the magic happens.

Gabrielle is an involved council member for the United States Bartenders Guild Hawai’i chapter as well as on the council for the Les Dames d’Esscofier Hawaii Chapter. She has her first level Sommeliers certification and is in the process of creating an online cocktail course, Kona Cocktail Academy.
